There are various free applications on google that can be utilized as a teacher. Many of the applications are interactive and can be the basis of a great learning experience. Google provides these applications for educators and students, and many come with user friendly directions that students can easily understand. As a teacher it is a great resource to use in a lesson for elementary students.
Here is an example of a lesson I wrote using Google Sketchup as the basis:
Google Sketchup lets students design anything from a simple shape to a complex building structure or city. The measure of an angle, distance of a line, and diameter can all be calculated. The link to Google Sketchup is below: Google Sketchup
Google Docs is a very interesting feature of google because it allows one to create a document with multiple users participating in the writing, editing and forming of the document. Documents are written just like in word but then can be shared with the multiple users so many people can work on it simultaneously. It eliminates the trouble of having to email a paper back and forth multiple time with multiple users. The link to Google Docs is below: Google Docs
Google Maps is a great interactive site that allows people to get directions, see pictures of neighborhoods, national parks, and calculate the distance between two locations. This free service through google allows one to zoom into a location such as one's house, the grand caynon, a particular road or any various features found on a map.
